Friction materials

There is a wide selection of friction lining materials that are intended for use in different industrial applications. In principle these materials can be divided into two groups.

Moulded brake linings are available in rolls, strips and sheets. The material may contain metal or may be totally metal-free. Friction coefficients and other properties can vary quite widely. The coefficient of friction may be as low as 0.12, and in some cases over 0.50. Even purely mechanical properties, such as hardness, strength, and the ease of machining and bonding the brake or clutch lining can be adapted.

Woven brake linings are made primarily in rolls. Some materials are also manufactured in sheets or according to specific drawings or requirements. These materials are mainly used in band brakes and winches.
