Bonding of brake linings |
We bond friction lining materials for brake and clutch linings in our own workshops. For most applications we use a hot bonding method. What this means in brief is that the adhesive is cured under heat and pressure. The result is a bond that maintains high strength even when subject to high friction temperatures.
Bonding of brake linings is regarded as a special process. The only way to determine if the desired results have been achieved is by destructive testing. So it is important that all the parameters, including pressure, temperature, holding time and surface finish, are carefully controlled. We document these properties and we know that the result will be a strong bonded joint.
