Adjusting Multi-Disc Brakes |
Brief general information on adjusting multi-disc brakes
Multi-disc brakes, wet.
- Wet multi-disc brakes are adjusted using a wedge-shape actuator that is operated by springs, air or hydraulics.
- The wedge moves different distances, always on the return stroke. The method varies depending on the manufacturer.
- The piston transfers force via a roller bearing to threaded pistons that rotate on the return stroke.
- Multi-disc brakes with annular pistons provide a large annular area. These are generally used with working pressures as low as 30–40 bar.
- External adjuster stop that can be moved.
Typical applications:
- Large heavy vehicles
- Dumper trucks
- Mobile cranes
